Outdoor gatherings are the norm right now, so you may decide to host a picnic for Thanksgiving this year. Host your Thanksgiving meal earlier in the day to take advantage of sunlight, and encourage everyone to dress warmly and bring extra layers. Break out some blankets and your firepits for a warm and cozy fall gathering.
Depending on comfort levels, groups may decide to bring their own food. If you are comfortable serving food to your guests, you may want to prepare single-serving sized dishes to eliminate sharing and streamline serving.
If you aren’t serving food, consider setting up an outdoor movie screening area to watch the parade, the dog show, the big game, or even some Thanksgiving movies. People can set up seats apart from other groups, and you can still be together to celebrate.
Volunteering is a great way to spread some holiday cheer while giving back to the community. Reach out to local organizations in need, and find ways to volunteer that work for you and your family. If you can’t volunteer to serve meals at a shelter, you may be able to drive around and deliver pre-packed meals to individuals or even help facilitate a canned food drive.
